Meet Your Reporter: Sunny Huang

Sunny Huang (10) | STAFF REPORTER

Hi! I’m Sunny, a grade 10 pre-IB student, and I’m going to be writing for the school events section. When I’m not at school, I’m most likely at dance, listening to music, baking, or hanging out with friends. Some of my favourite artists are Taylor Swift, Sabrina Carpenter, and Gracie Abrams – pretty much any pop girl. My go-to comfort movie is Cheaper by the Dozen, and my favourite TV show is Modern Family. Joining The Axiom has always been of interest to me, so I’m super excited to get to write and come up with new ideas to share!

SAC Sports Buyouts

Lucas Fang (9) l STAFF REPORTER

Do you want an opportunity to skip class and watch a fun sports game instead? Well, look no further than SAC’s hockey and basketball buyouts! On December 13th STR’s Senior Boys basketball team played Richmond Hill Secondary School’s team. They won against them 52-49 and moved on to the next rounds. More importantly, students had an opportunity to pay $2 and skip class to watch the game, which led to a massive turnout. A couple of days after announcing the basketball buyout, SAC announced another buyout, the hockey buyout. Students could pay $5 to get transportation to a hockey game at Clathworthy Arena, free skate afterwards, and enjoy complimentary hot cocoa. It sounds too good to be true if you ask me. I hope you got to attend at least one of those and enjoyed the class-free afternoon. read more

Meet Your Reporter: Lucas Fang

Lucas Fang (9) l STAFF REPORTER

Hi, my name is Lucas.

I’m one of your school events reporters this year. I’m currently a grade 9 Pre-IB student. Here’s hoping I don’t drop out. A few clubs I’ve tried out for are DECA, math team, debate team, and obviously the Axiom. There’s more to me than school, though. I enjoy listening to music, and my favourite artists are Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo. I like to watch sad rom-coms on Disney+ as well. I also play a few sports like swimming, skating, and skiing, and I hope to become a lifeguard someday. As for skiing, I started skiing when I was 7 with my mom, and I’ve grown to like it over the course of my life. Every year I make sure I ski at least one time. I’ve also been on a TV show before, but it’s an obscure kids’ show from China. Good luck finding it. Talking with friends and meeting new people are my specialties, and I take pride in that. What do I do with these new people, you ask? Well, If you ever find me in the halls, I’ll probably be rambling to someone I know. I’m extremely happy to be a part of the Axiom team this year and I hope you will enjoy what I write. Bye for now. read more
