Board Games Club: Taking The “Bored” Out of Board Games

If you haven’t heard the announcements already, Board Games Club is one of St. Robert’s newest clubs. The club takes playing board games to a new level by allowing its members to meet new people while de-stressing from the school week. Currently, there are 20-30 regular members; however, the drop-in attendance and open invitation allows students to attend sessions at their leisure.

While classics such as Monopoly or Risk are available, novelty games such as The Resistance, Coup, and 7 Card Slugfest are the popular choice. However, this doesn’t mean that the club is just for hardcore, gaming fanatics. Many games are straightforward and easy to learn. But for those looking to challenge themselves, pro gamers are always available to guide you through the intricacies and trails of more confusing games. The current selection of games range in playing times, player capacity, and competition, ensuring that there is a game for everyone. In terms of upcoming events, Victor S. and Edwin P., the co-founders of the club, are currently planning a gaming tournament to raise money to buy more board games.

Board games are nostalgic and classic. Board Games Club reminds us that sometimes we need to get our heads out of our textbooks, suggesting that creativity, entertainment, and community are not aspects of life that should be neglected. So if you like board games just as much as Tom Cruise or Batman, or are just looking for an outlet for competition and rivalry, sessions are held every Thursday after school in room 228.
