On Thursday, October 25th, in the large gym, over 800 students attended one of the two awards assembly sessions to celebrate student academic achievement for the 2017-2018 school year.

The awards assembly is a ceremony designed to congratulate students for their accomplishments the previous school year.

At 8:40 a.m., students attending the first assembly (A-L) started to file in, and by 8:50, vice principal Ms. Steele introduced herself as the Master of Communications for the event.  She then transitioned into the national anthem, land acknowledgment, and prayer.

Fortunately, many special guests attended, including school trustees and the vice chair of the Catholic School Council.  Several of these guests gave a speech of praise.  Principal, Mr. Servidio also delivered a speech, reiterating his infamous maxim, “It is so easy to do the wrong things in life, and so hard to do the right things.”

Many students cherished the experience, with Timothy Zheng (10) saying that he was very honoured to have been a recipient.

Although at times, persistence and diligence may seem difficult to follow through with, the sheer amount of students attending the assemblies that day shows that it is not impossible.
