Turning Bread – Creative Writing Contest Second Place Entry

St. Robert’s very own Creative Writing Club recently hosted a contest. Here’s the first place winner, Angelina Wang’s entry!

It started with love.
It always starts with love.
Let’s start differently this time.
It started with a climb.
It started with a mountain of memories,
Worn around proudly like accessories.
It started with words,
migrating like birds.
It started with a piece of dough.
Yes, that’s it, it started with dough.
It formed and molded,
Slowly, so slowly, it folded.
From one shape to the other,
So many ingredients, and yet another
Removed and changed,
Made like this and rearranged.
And those little changes called time,
Built up to a perfect prime.
To throw it into the fire
Where everything’s something you require
To avoid burning.
Where you are ‘growing and learning”,
Preparing to become that beautiful bread.
Like all the stories said.
Exchanging risk for a lifetime to spend.
But what happens in the end?
Perfection?
Who’s in the water’s reflection?
No one?
Someone?
You. It was you.
It has always been you.
It was you living.
It was you loving.
This story ends in love.
But stories always end in love.
Let’s end with something new
Let’s end with you.
