In May of 2002, the first Asian Heritage Month was celebrated. Since then, it has continued to be celebrated every year. It is a month where Canadians celebrate and reflect on Asian heritage and culture. Especially during the pandemic, Asian Heritage Month is a great way to acknowledge the contributions made to Canada by Asians.

On March 12th and March 15th, the Grade 11 IB students of St. Robert participated in a virtual field trip to work with a librarian from the University of Toronto Scarborough Library. They were introduced to several researching tools and methods, which would be especially useful for writing the Extended Essay.

With the world around us developing so quickly, it can sometimes be difficult to figure out where to start learning. The Quizzards of Oz is a club that helps its members stay up to date on interesting subjects, both within and beyond the school curriculum. Lessons are taught by the executive members of the club in an engaging and informative style.

It’s that time of year again, and no, I am not talking about the upcoming holidays. We are all aware of how COVID-19 has drastically changed how we go about our daily lives. All school clubs and extracurricular activities are all held online, through Zoom or Google Meet. DECA is no exception, and this year, although there was a late start, all of its members trained and worked tirelessly to ensure a good result from their regional competition. As a student who is a part of St. Robert’s DECA chapter, I will be providing you with some insider details on the regionals experience.

Students from grades 9 to 12 sat down on November 18, 2020 to write the Canadian Senior and Intermediate Math Contests (CSMC and CIMC). Freshmen and Sophomores wrote the CIMC, while Juniors and Seniors wrote the CSMC. These tests were provided by Waterloo University, and the purpose was to challenge students’ math abilities.

On March 12th, 2020, the St. Robert community participated in its annual Inside Ride. Students and staff not only had fun cycling in the gym, but also collected donations for the Coast to Coast Against Cancer Foundation.

During the second week of February, the various music ensembles of St. Robert CHS attended the Ontario Band Association (OBA) Festival. It was a delightful experience where each ensemble had the opportunity to perform and receive feedback from professionals.
