The Soccer Intramurals, organized by St. Robert’s SAC, was a thrilling soccer competition that garnered significant attention through promotion on Instagram (@strobertsac) and school announcements. Sign-ups were scheduled to commence on October 30th, 2023, and each team was made up of a group of 7 people, each comprising a minimum of 2 boys and 2 girls.

Initially, everything appeared to be running smoothly as numerous teams eagerly registered. However, due to overwhelming interest, an announcement was made, stating that an additional 3 team spots would be made available. This led to a surge in teams, resulting in a busy morning on November 2nd at 8 am, with the remaining spots quickly filling up and the sale of spectating tickets approaching.

The Student Athletic Council began to sell spectating tickets, and these tickets were made available during all three lunch periods. To purchase tickets, students needed to bring non-perishable food items along with a school ID for identification. The collected food items were to be donated to the Markham Food Bank.

The spectating ticket selling stations experienced varying levels of business. Some lunches saw high sales, while others had sporadic visits. Despite this, the overall business was deemed successful. Stations were set up before certain games, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement.

As the soccer intramurals near their conclusion, it’s evident that it has been a remarkable season filled with numerous victories, losses, and draws, contributing to the vibrant spirit of the athletic school community.
